Charles and Ray Eames designed the molded plywood coffee table in 1946 to complement their famous molded plywood chairs. Lightweight and movable, this imaginative table is unmistakably Eames with its thin, slightly indented top and gently curved legs. This coffee table first came to Herman Miller's attention when their design director George Nelson saw it and other Eames molded plywood products at a showing in the Barclay Hotel in New York City in the mid-1940s. Nelson contacted the Eameses, and soon afterward they were designing for Herman Miller.

What's To Like:
"Strength" isn't the first thing that comes to most peoples' minds when it comes to plywood furniture. But this coffee table is chock full of strong-itude. Three high quality, lightweight hardwood inner plies are sandwiched between natural wood face veneers. The 5-ply table top and 8-ply 4-leg base combine for exceptional durability and balance (you know what they say about "a cord of three strands" not being quickly broken).

What's Not To Like:
If you have neutral decor in general, or already have other woods in your home, the Molded Plywood table may not have the "pop" you're looking for. But then again, you can add the "pop" rather easily with tabletop decoration. So this isn't a "dislike" as much as a "take note of."
