The Risom Side Chair brings a Scandinavian sensibility to American furniture. Introduced in 1941, the Risom Side Chair was a seismic change in the American design landscape, and helped establish America as the post-war leader in modern design. That first Risom Side Chair was part of a whole line of chairs manufactured and distributed by Knoll, the only company authorized to deal with the Risom Side Chair.
Born in Denmark, Jens Risom helped establish America as the center of the furniture design world. His creations, including the Risom Side Chair, married a Scandinavian aesthetic and an American sensibility to create some of the most beautiful and lasting furniture this century.
